I look at my life and I wonder about all the events that have transpired,
And I cant help but question my ancestors, madzitateguru angu,
Ana Mukunya vari pakati pedu vanhu vepanyika neMusikavanhu,
Kuti indava musina kundichangetedza ini mwana wenyu?
Isn't that what you promised us long ago,
That those that have lived and died,
Will take care of those that are still living,
hence I ask my ancestors why you have forgotten me,
I know that life is suffering but why, zviri sezvaziri zvinhu izvezvi,
Ende nekuwanda kwamakaita inda pachishaya kana one munhu anoita shungu neni,
Everyday pandinorara ndinonzwa mwoyo kurwadza,
Kurwadziwa nekuti ndiri ndega,
Ndoziya kuti semurume ndinofanira kushinga asi zvimwe ndezvimwe zvinorwadza.
I call you my ancestors and beg for you to hear my cry,
because I have shed tears emotionally and physically,
But why do you let this happen to me?
Am I not your child?
Am I not worthy of your love or your time?
Nhasi ndauya pamberi penyu madzitateguru angu,
Wani makati mwana asingacheme anofira mubereko,
Ende kuchema ndachema,
Asi mazwi angu anowira pasina anomanzwa,
I have been on this earth for some time and I am yet to feel your presence,
According to history during colonization, religions changed for most but not for all,
Yet those that continue the ways of our people are still suffering,
and the only thing that they find comfort is in knowing kuti munovachengeta,
Asi varume shuwa mashoko iwayo hakusi kukanga chibage ne torch here ikoko?
Pamwe ndini mwana wemazuva ano asina chaanoziya,
Asi kushandisa mashoko iwayo kuhwandisa fact yekuti hapana zvamurikuita...
Nhasi semwana wenyu ndachema,
I lament,
And I cry,
Give me guidance and give me strength,
Nditungamireyiwo madzitateguru angu,
Kuchema ndachema...
