Curses

Curses

Curses come in different forms,

Some in the form of physical pain that halts us from carrying out daily tasks,

Some in the form of that prevent us from connecting to other people,

And most like mine are curses brought on by the mind,

Curses that torment me day and night,

Even when I close my eyes, even with nothing in sight,

I still feel their bite.

What ails me is not some disease that can be cured,

What hurts me is the idea of decisions,

Rather choices that I have to make,

Being haunted by regret is nothing new in this life,

But being haunted by ghosts of things that are yet to be,

Seems like a very heavy cross that I have to carry.

And as I sit on the balcony and look at what lies yonder,

I wonder,

Will I make the right decision,

Or will I make a mistake and fail my mission.
